March Update & Near-Term Plans

February was another stellar month for the household.  Our net worth increased by over $7000.  This has a lot of to do with VTSAX rising about 6-7% from February.  I don’t follow VTSAX prices too much (and stocks I never do) but when VTSAX drops it gets my attention because then it is time to BUY BUY BUY.

All said and done we bought a couple additional thousand worth from the low of around -17% off the high.   It’s neat to think that these extra VTSAX shares we bought last month we will own our entire lives and that I’ll be benefiting off of that interest every year and will likely survive me and go to my heirs.  If I had it my way I’d like VTSAX to drop a lot more this year as we are in a power position to buy more VTSAX since we paid off our house.

The new job transition is going great but I absolutely do not have time to write normal articles because of the ambitious timelines we have at work.  I will resume standard articles this May/June.  In the meantime contact me on Twitter (@NurseWealthy) as I check that about once a week.  My favorite podcast I heard this month is definitely Cal Newport on the Mad Fientist (see below).  Brandon on Mad Fientist did a 30 day break from his smartphone and felt huge results.  I honestly feel like I’m not as sharp as I was 10 years ago and I wonder if its this smartphone culture rewiring our brains so the Cal Newport interview hit home for me.  Talk to you on twitter and I’ll have some big posts in May/June!
